Here we are mid-way through Summer 2011, and it has been amazing! We’ve been keeping so busy here at Hampton Country Day Camp!
So many special activities have been taking place! Our Mad Science Show which amazed everyone, the puppet show kept us laughing and a petting zoo visited us at camp – we had so much fun feeding the animals!
For Spirit Day, campers participated in so many events such as Jump the River, “Elves, Giants and Wizards” and Pin Guard, while our Kindergarteners did Human Bowling and a Treasure Hunt. We can’t forget our amazing campers in our “Show Time Club” that put on a musical review that was spectacular – some real serious talent here at HCDC!!!
All in all a great summer is happening here at Hampton Country Day Camp with life long memories and friendships being made every day!

We are very excited as we enter our second year as directors of Teen Hampton. We have been communicating with our staff throughout the year to ensure that we bring our teens another summer of unique, exciting, and fun filled summer activities.
This summer our special theme days will include Hawaiian Day, Blue/Gold day which again will include an Apache Relay, and a ‘60’s day. Our off campus trips will include spectacular ventures to Laser Kingdom, Country Fair Park (with unlimited go-karts! A favorite of everyone!), Survivor on the Beach, and Splish-Splash.
Our late nights will give our teens the opportunity to stay with us after the program normally ends for an evening of special events such as night-time swimming and BBQ dinners. We are pleased to note that our new chef this year is a whiz at BBQ’ing!!!
Our staff is already busy planning for some ‘reality show’ activities, which will include Top Chef and Project Runway, so be prepared!
Our music and dance specialists will again work with our teens so that they will be able to demonstrate the skills that they have learned throughout the summer AND we have added yoga and Zumba to our dance and fitness programs.
As part of our program we also encourage our teens the value of “giving back” and assisting others. So this summer, we will again participate in a local food drive and use our skills, with the supervision of our staff, to build several booths to be used at our sister camp’s Carnival. Our teens will also have the opportunity to work at these booths during the carnival and present a positive role model image for the younger campers at HCDC.
We look forward to seeing you all in just 18 days!

Yep – Teen Hampton is definitely for me! I’m Ethan and I’m 15 years old and I love Teen Hampton! So I figured I’d tell you a little bit about me and the camp.
I like Teen Hampton more than any other camp I went to because I can choose what I want to do. Especially when you get to be my age, who wants to be told what to do? (Okay, well sometimes it’s okay…) but at Teen Hampton we don’t get “assigned” what we have to do, but rather we have a “choice” in what we want to do.
Last summer I loved the trip where we went to Splish-Splash and also when we went sailing. It was AMAZING! I also went golfing every week with the camp golf program and improved my skills. (Bethpage Black Course – Here I come!)
One of my favorite memories from last summer was when we made homemade pizza at an after camp evening activity with Rich, the Art Specialist. We made the “Meat Lovers” pizza and it tasted great!
Some of my favorite activities at Teen Hampton were videography and band. I participated in both every day. I also made a short video and learned how to play the drums (I had never played the drums before), BUT because I was able to learn how to play, I became the drummer for a band at a concert and we performed at Teen Hampton in front of a live audience! It was awesome!
I am really looking forward to this summer (I really can’t wait!) where I can enhance my drumming skills and play lots of golf!

Selecting the right camp for your child is both important and impactful. When you selected HCDC as a place for your child to grow summer after summer, you entrusted us to become your “Partner in Parenting” – a role that we take very seriously when developing fun, safe & active programs each summer. As your child grows up, HCDC and the other members of the TLC Family of Camps are here to continue that partnership.
When your child is ready to move from day camp to sleep away camp, we know there are a lot of things to consider. Sleep away camp is, for most people, an experience that can last for six or more years (with memories that last for many decades after!) Such a big decision shouldn’t be made lightly, so we’ve specifically designed our Rookie Day Program to allow your child an opportunity to “taste” the sleep away camp experience, while giving you, as parents, a close-up look at our facilities, program, supervision and philosophy. Oh, and all the fun too! Each of our Resident Camps (Timber Lake, Tyler Hill and Timber Lake West) offer Rookie Days throughout the summer, hoping to help make choosing the right sleep-away camp a little easier.

We had an AMAZING summer on our brand new HCDC campus! Doris, Jane, and I recently walked the property and began to map out next summer’s upgrades to the facility and program for 2011.
Being at camp just wasn’t the same though without the buzzing of spirit and excitement of all our campers and staff. It was so enjoyable to watch our campus come to life this past season with the sounds of “camp” = Campers laughing, counselors cheering, coaches clapping, and specialists teaching… And the smiles – Oh the smiles!!!! That’s what it’s all about! (more…)
