HCDC’s Helping Hands

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

At Hampton Country Day Camp, our campers do more than just have fun – They get involved in giving back to the community that they enjoy so much summer after summer through our camp’s Helping Hands Program.

This summer, our campers had the opportunity to participate in making other children’s lives better by bringing in canned and packaged food from home for the East Hampton Food Pantry.  The Food Pantry then distributes the food to needy families on the East End, including more than 1,000 children.  (Click HERE to read an article that was recently written in the East Hampton Star about our wonderful program and our even more wonderful campers!)

Our campers also took part in helping to fund camperships to attend Morry’s Camp.  Morry’s Camp is a unique four-week program which guarantees four summers of camp to under-privileged children who keep up with their school work and are positive role models in their community. (more…)

Open House

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

This past weekend Hampton Country Day Camp was filled with the laughter of children! The weather was spectacular and the smiles on everyone’s faces just made the day that much brighter!

Campers and parents enjoyed so many activities – arts & crafts where we made picture frames, matches of tennis and games of soccer.  We unveiled our brand new STARFISH Village and campers got to play in our beautiful sun-screened playground!  After everyone enjoyed snacks and an array of fresh fruit, we gave tours of the camp grounds and families then had the opportunity to meet our spectacular Leadership Staff.

In case you missed out on this great event, feel free to stop by our next Open House on Saturday, June 11th from 11am to 3pm!  Hope to see you there!  Only 26 more days until camp starts!

Camp Games for a Cause

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

This past weekend, the TLC Family of Camps took part in an awesome charity event at Columbia University - Camp Games for a Cause!  Over 30 different camps in the tri-state area, represented by their camp staff, camp alumni and camp families participated in friendly competition while raising money for a wonderful cause - SCOPE.  In this, it’s inaugural year, Camp Games for a Cause raised over $34,000 for SCOPE, helping to send under-privileged inner-city kids to summer camp!

We had about 25 young alumni & staff members from the TLC family show up to compete in some favorite camp games such as gaga, volleyball, dodgeball, and a dance competition where Ross Lazerowitz from Timber Lake posed as Justin Beiber!  The day finished with a perennial camp favorite (and mass chaos!) – an Apache relay!  Although there was a valiant effort by all, the TLC Family of Camps team came in 2nd place, but that just means that next year we will be going for the gold!

HCDC Counselors contribute to CMEE’s Family Fair!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Hampton Country Day Camp counselors volunteered their time this past weekend to help run various fun games and activities at The Children’s Museum of the East End’s Summer Family Fair.  The CMEE is a non-profit museum located in Bridgehampton that strives to create a space for families to actively share in their children’s growth. This wonderful place of discovery was designed to provide interactive experiences that foster curiosity in children and create a lifelong love of self-directed learning.

It was a great day all-around with many Hampton Country Day Camp families in attendance!

Breath of the Hamptons to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

At HCDC, we believe in supporting our extended family out here in the Hamptons, and we had the chance to participate in a great community event last Saturday. Hampton Country Day Camp counselors spear-headed hours of fun, games and activities for children of all ages who attended the Breath of the Hamptons Cystic Fibrosis Foundation benefit. The event was held at the beautiful home of Jeffrey Altman in Bridgehampton, raising money to help fund vital research in its search for a cure of this genetic disease.

As part of the TLC Family of Camps and the TLC Foundation, HCDC supports many different causes through out the year. You can read more about our philanthropic efforts here.

Kudos to our counselors for a spectacular weekend event!
